When importing an M12, FormStation will fill in any missing information from the template document. To use Import Templates: 1) Create a FormStation Document of the appropriate Form Type, and with a Reference Number of "IMPORT". 2) Check the Template checkbox 3) Fill in the information on the form that should appear by default. This data will appear on the imported document only if it is not included in the M12 import file. =================================================================== === Installation Notes === =================================================================== --------------------------------------------------------------- Backing Up Old Data --------------------------------------------------------------- It is important to periodically backup your FormStation data in order to minimize the effects of accidents and hardware failures. It is an especially good idea when installing a new version of the software. Refer to the separate document in the BACKUP.TXT file on the product diskette. --------------------------------------------------------------- Printer Setup --------------------------------------------------------------- Versions 1.3 and later include Mil-Pac's TrueForm printing technology which allows the user to print on any truly supported Windows printer. To use TrueForm, select "Windows Drivers" on the Options|Printing dialog. NOTE: Printers which are HP-LaserJet-II compatible may achieve better, faster, and more accurate results using the LaserJet-PCL method. Some forms are not yet supported under the TrueForm Windows Drivers methods. In these cases, the error message "Cannot open MPLFnnnn.PML" will occur. To correct the problem, select the LaserJet-PCL printing method, as described above. Adjusting Placement of Form on Page ----------------------------------- The placement of the printed form on the page can be adjusted by adding a couple of statements to the forms initialization file, called FD-FORMS.INI. For example, to move the DD1387 to the left by one-half inch (for compatibility with the PCL version), place the following statements in the FD-FORMS.INI file: [MPLF0407] HorzPrtOffset=-50 ; Horizontal adjustment (in 100ths of an inch) VertPrtOffset=0 ; Vertical " (none needed) The values are in 100ths of an inch. Positive values move down and to the right, negatives up and to the left. The name in brackets is the printed form's identifier, which can be found at the bottom of the printed form. NOTE that this only works in Windows Drivers mode. --------------------------------------------------------------- Network Installation --------------------------------------------------------------- Single-user network installations reside on either the network drive, or the user's local hard-drive (and using the network as the location of the document database to allow it to be included in routine network backup procedures). To use the network as the location of the document database set the Document Storage Directory field in the Options|Configuration dialog to the directory where the files have been located. Multi-user network installations can be done in the same manner, with the executables located either on the network, or the individual user hard drives. Set up the Document Storage Directory as described above, using a directory that can be shared by all users. The directory should be a drive-letter mapped directory using eight-character maximum directory names. In multi-user network installations, each user MUST have their own working directory, into which a copy of the DDFS.CFG file must be placed. Future versions will require that this file be unique, in that it contains the serial number allocated to the user. Take care to set the Working Directory in the FormStation icon properties to the users directory. Network File Control Path ------------------------- The Paradox Engine's Network Control File Path must be set to a directory shared by all FormStation users. Use the Paradox Engine utility in the FormStation program group to do this (use the Network Configuration button). The FormStation data directory is an acceptable choice. All FormStation users sharing the database must point to the same Network Control File Path directory. A Paradox Error loading a network-based FormStation document database may persist due to a previously inconsistent configuration of the Paradox Engine for all users. The following steps will correct the problem. After ensuring that all users are correctly configured and not accessing using FormStation, delete all locking files. Do this by using the appropriate Windows function (eg. Start | Find | Files) to locate all Paradox lock files. Search for "P*.LCK" and delete all files named "PARADOX.LCK" and "PDOXUSRS.LCK". If this does not correct the problem, repeat the procedure, locating and deleting all "PARADOX.NET" and "PDOXUSRS.NET" files. --------------------------------------------------------------- Paradox Database Engine (local drive issues) --------------------------------------------------------------- The DDFS and its editor employ the Paradox Database Engine to maintain its various databases, for things such as address blocks, part descriptions and form status. The database engine utilizes a number of registration and locking files to coordinate access to the databases. In some cases after installing, upgrading or moving the installation of an application Paradox will be unable to access databases due to a conflict in the locking files. If this problem occurs after upgrading a FormStation, use the appropriate Windows function (Find|Files or File Mgr) to locate all Paradox lock files. Search for "P*.LCK" and delete all files named "PARADOX.LCK" and "PDOXUSRS.LCK". Be sure to terminate all Paradox applications before doing this. If this does not correct the problem, repeat the procedure, locating and deleting all "PARADOX.NET" and "PDOXUSRS.NET" files. Contact Tech Support at Mil-Pac Technology should you have any questions, or encounter any problems with this procedure. --------------------------------------------------------------- VERSION DIFFERENCES (continued) --------------------------------------------------------------- Version 2.18 ------------ FormStation (2.18.092) Modified processing of forms generated by Oracle Projects delivered via Internet Explorer and Netscape (MIME = application/vnd.milpac.fex) WASUP DLL v3.2.132 Realigned N102 and N201 segments for WAWF v3.0 Leading spaces filtered out of address lines for improved compliance Added FTP support for systems other than Mil-Pac VAN Migrated to WAWF v3.0, with v2.0 handled by redirection to WASUP2 DLL Added support for 810-Invoice Added options for passive and binary mode transfers Eliminated dash-filtering of part number in Free-Text segments DDPrint DLL v3.6.040 Eliminated filtering of barcodes for Boeing MRC3-301 label Version 2.17 ------------ FormStation (2.17.091) Improved import of EDI-850 POs as DD1348 Forms Including User-definable defaults and conditions, and Nomenclature lookup table Requires: X2Cvt DLL v3.8.025 (4/17/03) X850Cvt.Exe v3.8.120 (4/17/03) =================================================================== === NOTES === =================================================================== Command Line Processing ----------------------- FormStation can be invoked with a filename on its command line, e.g. DDFS MyXMLDoc.XML which will cause FormStation to import the document into its document database, put it up in the form editor, then exit when completed.
